I entered with my dogs at the river kayak access. Crane Pond is really well over a 3 star but the signage is poor for parking areas and trails off Seven Star Rd. We took a rolling trail overlooking the marsh and my dogs were excited at a couple deer on the trail. I checked out the Center St gate which is well marked.

It was AMAZING!️
I went duck hunting there this morning with my father and his dog. It was a nice walk and the area we went to looked to have a lot of potential. But there was also a lot of other people around. We saw a pair of geese that were out of range but that was it. They also came sort of late in the morning, around 10 I think. We may go back, but if there's anybody else duck hunting, it doesn't seem it would be worth it
It's not a bad spot to walk the dogs if you can find it. If you're looking for it, the best way to get there is get on thurlow St off North St, and park where the old railroad bed and power lines cross the street. Take the old railroad bed on the right side of the street, and the 1st main trail on the left. That leads out to cranes pond. It's a nice, fairly long hike out to the pond. My dog loves it. I find it a nice walk to puff a doobie and enjoy nature. I know some people that have also camped out by the pond, which is a nice (rural) spot if you just want to camp somewhere nice without spending cash. Unfortunately people have left trash here and there, but otherwise it's a nice walk. We very rarely run into anyone else out there. Nice, secluded and lots of wildlife, maybe some good photography opportunities. One part of the trail you will have to go along the side, as there's lots of water, but it's definitely passable even if it doesn't look so. Enjoy your hike!
Beautiful area i cant wait to explore it more
