I was looking for a billiards table with some history to it and I found that John Bennett Billiards had by far the best selection available. After very helpful discussions I opted for a table built in 1867 which had been installed in the Royal Hospital Chelsea, and which had been played on by old soldiers dating back to the Napoleonic Wars! After significant restorative work the table was installed last week. To say I'm delighted is an understatement. The table is beautiful and exceeds my already high expectations. Sarah was super efficient in answering my myriad questions throughout the process, and Michael was equally efficient during the installation, as well as being a mine of information about the table's unusual history, and how to maintain the table going forward. I highly recommend John Bennett Billiards for its outstanding customer service.
Published 22 minutes ago I would highly recommend this company… I would highly recommend this company if you care about your snooker or pool table. Michael spend over 8 hours fitting steel block cushions to my antique 12' snooker table. He colour matched the cushion rails to match the existing colour of the frame. Fitted Northern rubber cushions, put a new cloth on and made sure the table was level and true. I could see from watching him that he is a perfectionist and takes pride in his work. Worth every penny.
Excellent service from start to finish. The team picked up my table from Yorkshire transported it to their workshop and stored it for 10 months. When the time came to install they were charming and provided a service ahead of what i had hoped. the table was turned from a shell into a quality refurbished table. Nothing was too much trouble and i would wholeheartedly recommend this family business.
francis_knight Relationship: Client Project Date: June 2016 Project Price: less than 1,000 I contacted Michael Hudson to get a quote to renew my slate bed snooker table cloth and cushions. I also contacted several other firms whose prices were very substantially higher than Michael's. I suspect they were 'farming' out the work and taking a decent cut from the sale. When Michael arrived he brought with him the finest material you could buy and he proudly showed me the printing on the hem which stated the make and quality. He removed the cushions and instead of attaching the cloth over the many staples, he meticulously pulled each one out by hand. Each cushion was covered in turn but when he came to the last one he pronounced that he was unsatisfied with it and took it apart and re-did it. It was very obvious that Michael was a true craftsman and his apprenticeship with the century old snooker manufacture had paid off in spades. Watching him put the cloth on the table was quite something and this required a lot of skill. He ironed the table and then put the cushions back on, He marked it out and ironed it again. Then he checked the levels using a proper engineering spirit level and jacked up the table because it was down one end. He padded the legs out with wafers until he was satisfied. He then tightened all the bolts holding the frame together. He put the pockets back and then he replaced the nylon stitching with a flat linen shoelace and they look like new. So not only did I get my table and cushions recovered but, because he is a perfectionist, I also got a free service. My only concern is that in time to come when Michael decides to retire, unlesss one of his sons follows in his footsteps, he will be the last of a very exclusive club.
